FAQ

Do I need a bookkeeper if I have a CPA? What’s the difference between the two?

The work of bookkeepers and CPAs often overlaps, as bookkeeping is part of the accounting process. Bookkeepers are responsible for the ongoing maintenance of their clients’ financial records, such as keeping the general ledger up-to-date, reconciling account statements, and generating internal financial reports. Whereas, while CPAs are qualified to do bookkeeping tasks, many prefer to focus solely on higher level accounting work, such as analyzing the company’s financial data, preparing income tax returns, and providing tax planning advice. For this reason, companies often have both a bookkeeper and a CPA.
